Established 15 October 1841, the Nauvoo Masonic Lodge was Joseph Smith's attempt to bring Freemasonry among male members of the Church of Christ. The Masonic Hall, a building constructed for the purpose of hosting meetings of the lodge, was dedicated 5 April 1844.
